I am a Painter.
I am a representational oil painter. I was born and raised in New Rochelle, NY. My father was an artist and advertising executive who had a strong influence on me and my art. I excelled in art throughout my schooling then went on to study at art schools in Philadelphia and New York, obtaining my certificate from PAFA.
I am a painter of people, places and things, working from the academic tradition of painting from life. I feel true color and value is better observed, studied and rendered. It is exciting to create the form of an object, the atmosphere of a place, or the essence of a person, in the studio or plein air, by manipulating oil paint on the end of a 13 inch brush.
My work is contemporary realism. I love contrast and color. The joy of painting is in the finding of the solution. The whole process from squeezing tubes of paint onto the palette to washing brushes in hot soapy water is my purpose. My journey has been to simplify the complicated and be happy by leaving some things undone.
I am familiar with taking commissions, and I will engage with you on any ideas and concepts you may have for a painting. My pieces have been helpful and treasured by many.
